Congratulations, you’re back. This past weekend I went to a potluck brunch. It was nice. People brought lots of breaded food with cheeses inside them and sweet things with breads on the outside of them. I’d never been to a potluck brunch before but having to wake up early on a Sunday and get dressed (I wore a shirt) reminded me of going to church. We didn’t go to church long when I was growing up, we stopped when I was in the second or third grade. The only thing I really remember about it was kind of liking vacation bible school one summer and one time getting really upset when I found out Jesus died for me. That’s kind of a heavy thing to put on a six year old. I don’t remember the last time I was inside a church, but sometimes I will walk by one and think they look nice on the outside. Don’t know what that says about an eternal, supreme god.
I also discovered the flag of Amman this week.
Pretty cool flag. Lots of color and hills and a castle (?) in the background. I thought that white thing was a bird, but it’s actually just part of the Arabic language. I guess it could still also be a bird. I like the bold text up front, but ultimately it’s a bit too much white space. 6.8/10.
Here’s a good Bertrand Russell essay I read about work and leisure. I like:
There was formerly a capacity for light-heartedness and play which has been to some extent inhibited by the cult of efficiency. The modern man thinks that everything ought to be done for the sake of something else, and never for its own sake.
And last but not least, I saw a cool motorcycle.
Enjoy the quote. Enjoy the motorcycle. Enjoy the flag a little more than you. Thanks for the read!
